As a Karaoke host, there are a few things that singers can do to help us out regarding running a show
1) Please don't shout into the mike!! We can't compensate for this in real time.
2) If you decide to leave, it's helpful to let the KJ know so he can take you out of the rotation and keep the show running smoothly.
3) If your show uses slips, bringing up a slip for your next song when you come up for your turn makes it easier on us.
4) what you don't know is, about 30 seconds before a song ends and about up to 30 sec after the next song is the worst time too approach a KJ. We are preparing to announce the next singer and preparing optimal music settings when the next singer starts.
5) please pick your songs wisely if you are in a family atmosphere. Setting a good example for children present is a good thing!
6) if you want to join someone on stage, please ask the person before their turn. It's not my call to hand you a mike!
7) Please don't ask the KJ to be bumped up in the rotation. Everyone knows about when they are coming to the stage. It's like cutting line.
8) Respect the KJ for the way he handles the singer order.
9) Please understand that Keeping the music up to date as well as awesome equip is really expensive. Please tip your KJ, we don't make much in the bar scene but we are here for you. A couple bucks going to the KJ per person would help us out and is very reasonable!!!
10) If you don't see the song you're looking for in the book, write it on a slip with a backup song. That way if the KJ does not
have your song he will have it on paper and see if he can get it for you in the future. And you won't hold up the show trying to think of a 2nd song.
Whew, that's it and I hope to not offend anybody. Just to educate everyone to make every show a better one!
Thanks for your continued support!!!
